Already in its 14th year, Metering, Billing/CRM Europe is Europe's most established event for smart utility professionals, which in 2011 alone attracted over 5000 international participants.

Our programmes are based on ongoing research and contributions by our committee members, all leading experts from the European smart energy community.

The smart metering industry is constantly changing, with new directions and market opportunities, the most notable of which is a shift towards smart grids and smart homes.  To reflect this, the 2012 programme will cover all aspects of smart metering, but also and in line with market developments, its scope will be widened to encompass T&D, smart grid and smart home applications.

As in previous years the agenda will focus on the main areas in the field of smart metering, including:

• Updates on EU policy and member states regulatory frameworks
• Implementing smart metering projects; from piloting to building a business case
• Design of future proof ICT networks and data management systems to enable end-to-end solutions
• Enhanced billing and CRM operations for smarter utilities
• Transformation of passive consumers to engaged prosumers
• Moving from smart metering to a smart business

New this year will be the extension of the programme addressing key developments in the field of:

• Harmonization of energy markets and its effect on TSO operations
• Network development and planning
• Interplay of technology and innovation in designing smart grids
• Development of sophisticated networks to integrate renewables and demand response programmes
• Integrating the uptake of the EV market in the current energy landscape
• The role of smart homes in driving ROI in deployed energy infrastructures
